It's official, food tastes better when someone else prepares it. Case in point - my mom makes this stir fry that I love. It was the meal I would request and was excited to see when I lived at home, the dish that when I ate it I would stop and really savor the flavor. I'm sure everyone has the same perfectly healthy obsession with food (right?). Well, I've made it several times and once again made it tonight. As I'm tasting it for the 20th time I'm thinking, this tastes exactly the same as my mom's, but for some reason it doesn't bring me the same joy or euphoric feeling it used to. This is too bad since I am the one that makes dinner every night. I guess I will have to convince Kevin that it is imperative to my happiness that he learn to cook.

Ha! I LOVE this post! I think about this all the time...I am OBSESSED with yummy salads, but HATE my own. It just isn't the same. ANd everything my mom makes is amazing and gives me a comfort high, but mine never does!
I totally agree with you. On Christmas Eve, I made all of the yummy things that are usually at the Christmas Eve party at home. It just wasn't as exciting or yummy to me. I guess it just has to be made by mom to really enjoy it.
I have thought this for years!! My own cooking does not tempt me. It must be a mental thing! It's just NOT the same.
Well, it's not just your mom either! I've made several of your yummy recipes and they just don't taste as good as when you made them! What's a food obsessed girl to do?
So, the moral of the story is that we all take comfort in the comfort (mom, home, etc.) not int he food - who knew!!
