Sophie's first...and hopefully last cast

Sophie's leg is not broken, let's get that out there because I don't know how a 5wk old could break their leg without the parent looking a little negligent (although I'm sure it happens). Instead, she has a mildly clubbed left foot. So in order for her to live my dreams of her becoming a beautiful dancer one day (or a basketball player if you ask Kev) we are getting it corrected. Ry picked blue for the cast color so needless to say everyone was commenting on how cute our little boy's hair was the whole way out of the hospital.
On a side note, a visit to a Children's Hospital quickly makes you appreciate the healthy bodies your children have. We met an adorable 5 yr. old boy who was in a wheel chair and has cerebral palsy. We chatted with him for a while, he was so outgoing and talkative. We then saw him on the way out of the hospital and started chatting again. He pointed out how he now has a cast just like Sophie's, but he has two of them instead of one. Seeing all the kids in the hospital with their various conditions broke my heart, but talking to this little boy brought a huge smile to my face.

It looks so sad to see a cast on Sophie. So glad it isn't a broken leg! How long does she have to wear it?

I just love those special friends you meet! I think it is great that Ry got to pick the color...you can just tell everyone that she is a big BYU fan! I hope everything goes good with the correction!

Oh I was so sad for a minute when I thought you were a neglectful parent but lo and behold...you aren't! ;) I'm so glad that you are attentive to her needs and are hopefully able to correct something early that would've been a pain in the future. Poor Sophie! At least she's too small to remember!

Poor Sophie! That looks so sad. I'm glad it's not broken. Don't worry, Adynne doesn't have a blue cast and wears pink everywhere and everyday at least one person will call her a boy. I wish she would grow some hair!!

Sophie is a doll, I hope the cast doesn't last long.

It is amazing how good health can be taken for granted. I know I do. I am so glad her lag is not broken! It is sad to see, but also good if it helps correct a possibly bigger problem later. Sophie is such a Doll!! We miss seeing your wonderful family!!

Sorry she is in a cast - glad they can help with the club foot though.
We know what you mean about seeing kids in the hospital and realizing how lucky you are. Emma had to have surgery to have a tear duct repaired when she was only 9 months old. We had it done at Primary Children's. It took a fraction of a second to see kids all around us awaiting surgery for various things to feel so lucky and blessed to only be there for a blocked tear duct - easy to fix, no long term implications.
Anyway, so glad you are doing well - she is still so adorable (not that we would expect that to change)!!
