Say What?

Anyone else with an almost 2 yr old feel like the majority of your day is spent trying to guess what your child is telling you? A lot of the times I am impressed I can decipher Ry's communications, but many times she is left angry saying a clear frustrated "no" as I run through different possibilities of what she could be saying. I try to avoid words like "Barney", "blanket", or "crackers" because no matter what she was originally saying, she will now want Barney, blanket, or crackers. The sense of pride I feel though when I guess correctly, and Ry's face lights up and says "yes", is well worth the effort.

I totally hear you on that one!! I still look at Grant and think I have no idea what he is talking about! :)But yes the joy when you get it right is well worth the effort. Are you guys comin to Poky for Christmas? Merry Christmas!!

So true! Owen thankfully is getting better and better. Soon enough Ry will be speaking sentences and you'll be like who's child is this? This is such a fun age!

Yeah, seriously! I feel like all I do after I've exhausted every alternative is say "oh really, okay". It usually placates her to think that I understand her! My favorite discovery has been when Dillon said butt! I was like who taught you that...must have been in nursery. Turns out that's how she says pants. At least I figured that one out!

It's better that way!! Sometimes you wish you couldn't tell what they were saying and then you wonder where in the world did they learn that from!! They do say some pretty funny things though!! Merry Christmas!!

I remember those days! Now I can understand Lex almost always and Roscoe doesn't even attempt to talk. :) I love your background and family pic at the top!

Hey! This is Bonnie, but I'm too lazy to log out of my mom's and back in on mine:)
We will call you. It's kind of crazy for us with all the family parties and then Bear Lake next week. I'm sure it's crazy for you too. But still, we should go to lunch!

Stef this is my world right now. I get a loud NO and a frustrated face looking at me. Sometimes a few tears. It is so frustrating for them. Can you imagine trying to talk to someones and they are just looking at you like what? and then guessing what you are trying to say. This would be frustrating for me. It is so fun to put yourself in their shoes. Cute Cute Kidos!!

For me, I usually get it after the conversation is over...like I will say oh you meant bottle? (Bahl)Big nod, since Taylor won't say yes (can but won't) It was fun to the pictures you posted.
